Annual Art Events

Canada Star Art Academy (Vanarts) holds many engaging art events every year to celebrate our students’ talent, creativity, and achievements. Among the events, there are of particular interest!

Christmas Cards Selling

Audience:
G6-G12 students
What is about:
Collect Artworks & Write-Ups from students and make Holiday Cards
What is for:
Promote creativity in students/ Celebrate their achievements

Portfolio Day *pictures from the vanarts website

Portfolio Day is an annual tradition where all students receive one to one Portfolio review and a free Academic Advising session. Amongst the academic and portfolio advisors, admission officers from top art schools, like NSCAD university, OCAD University, UAL, SAIC, and U of A arts, will be present.
Audience:
G6-G12 students
Purpose:

Chances for art students to meet with admission offices and get insight information of college admission

Opportunity for art students to get approval for their portfolio on the spot

Opportunity to promote CSSS AP art courses and portfolio prep

Silent Auction

Silent Auction is another annual event hosted in June by Canada Star Secondary. Parents and community members place bids on students’ artworks; the highest bidder of each item wins auction. All proceeds from the auction goes to charity on behalf of the students.

Portfolio Day

Every year, we organize a Portfolio Day with free Academic Advising sessions for all grades and one-to-one Portfolio Review sessions for grade 9-12 students, with Admissions Officers from Top Art Schools, like NSCAD University, OCAD University, UAL, SAIC and Alberta University of the Arts.
